Last updated: October 5, 2026

Simply Mushroom is a small-scale mushroom farm and educational website based in Virginia’s Middle Peninsula. This policy explains what information we collect through this website and what we do with it.

Information you choose to provide

If you subscribe to Field Notes, we collect your email address and information associated with your signup, such as when and where you subscribed.

If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, message, submission time, and the status assigned to the inquiry.

Please don’t include sensitive personal, financial, medical, or legal information in a contact-form message.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider may collect standard technical information needed to operate and protect the website, such as an IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, and security logs.

We don’t currently use this website to sell products, process payments, or create customer accounts.

How we use information

We don’t sell or rent personal information.

We use the information collected through the site to:

  • Send Field Notes to people who requested it
  • Respond to questions and contact-form messages
  • Operate, maintain, and protect the website
  • Understand and correct technical problems
  • Meet legal obligations when applicable

Analytics

Simply Mushroom uses Hostinger’s aggregate traffic overview and Umami Cloud to understand page visits, clicks on selected supplies links, and whether newsletter or contact forms were completed successfully. These success events do not include names, email addresses, or message text. Umami does not use cookies or collect personal data. This analytics is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. The current Umami plan retains aggregate analytics for up to six months.

Email subscriptions

Field Notes is optional. Every marketing email will provide a way to unsubscribe. If you unsubscribe, we may retain a minimal suppression record so we know not to add that address back to the mailing list accidentally.

Service providers

We use Hostinger to host and operate the website, store contact-form submissions, and send form notifications.

We use Hostinger Reach to manage Field Notes subscribers and send email communications.

These providers process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy practices. We may also disclose information if required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the website, its visitors, or our rights.

How long we keep information

Newsletter information is generally kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, subject to any minimal record needed to honor an unsubscribe request.

Contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain useful business records, resolve problems, or meet legal requirements.

Your choices

You may unsubscribe from Field Notes using the link included in an email.

You may also ask to access, correct, or delete personal information you submitted through this website. Use the contact form on our About page and clearly identify the request. We may need to verify that the request concerns your information, and some information may be retained when required or permitted by law.

Cookies and similar technology

The website may use essential cookies or similar browser storage needed for basic operation, security, and form functionality.

We don’t currently use this site for targeted advertising. If we later add nonessential analytics, advertising tools, or other tracking technology, we’ll update this policy and add any consent controls that are required.

External links

Our guides may link to suppliers, retailers, books, or other outside websites. Those websites have their own privacy practices, and Simply Mushroom isn’t responsible for how they collect or use information.

Children’s privacy

This website isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We and our service providers use reasonable measures to protect submitted information. No website or online storage system can guarantee complete security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website, business, or services change. The updated date at the top of this page will show when the policy was last revised.
